Sourcing Manager Specialist

As part of a replacement procurement, we are looking for a Sourcing Manager Specialist Turkey for a well-known manufacturer of refractory and molded products for foundries. The head office, based in Ohio (USA), is active in over 100 countries worldwide and has 9 production sites, including one in Tholen (NL). Plans controlled by Tholen and the company serves the European area.

To help develop and maintain the most cost-effective sourcing of refractory minerals for the companies products and its affiliated companies.  Duties will include minerals industry research and analysis; supplier research; vendor education and development; coordination of sources investigation, development, and maintenance; assistance in supplier negotiations as well as assistance in raw materials logistics.

Essential Functions:

  • Help identify minerals and chemicals of potential strategic importance, both globally and within geographic areas
  • Develop information regarding potential sources and channels for the acquisition of those minerals and chemicals.  That information will encompass current and potential producers, processors, and traders. The information will include reserves and capacities, specifications, quality, reliability, pricing, and trends.
  • Work with the Management, Production, Purchasing, Research and Development centers
  • Work with Purchasing, R&D, and Quality Assurance to ensure that the refractory minerals and chemical approval process is effective and in line with purchasing strategies.
  • Conduct Vendor analysis and screening to select the best potential suppliers for each refractory raw material.
  • Prescreen samples from prospective suppliers through in-house testing lab
  • Develop and maintain relationships with refractory minerals and chemical producers, processors, and traders.
  • Submit quarterly reports to the Management regarding refractory minerals and chemical pricing trends, plus other relevant information regarding trends in the refractory minerals industry.
  • Take chair of quarterly Turkey Refractory Minerals Sourcing Committee meetings. Lead the work of that Committee through ongoing sourcing activities and assigned projects.

Your skills

  • The position requires a Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent and three to five years’ experience with a refractory mineral’s user, producer, processor, or trader.  A technical background could prove helpful but is not necessary.
  • Ideally with a solid technical background in the field of refractory and production processes
  • Several years of professional experience in the field of sourcing
  • Very good communication skills and understanding of the requirements of the metallurgical   

      and foundry industry

  • Competent and business fluent demeanor
  • More secure knowledge of written and spoken English
  •  High level of initiative and independent way of workingTeamwork and communication skills
